The countdown has started. After months of planning, many meetings to make this trip very successfully, we have now locked down the plans for our "Green IT Trip"; the Road to New Orleans to attend the Microsoft World Partner Conference (WPC) is less than 2 weeks away.
Last year, Orangutech attended Microsoft's World Partner Conference (WPC) for the first time. The experience was excellent and we thought about a concept to cut down the cost, hence providing the ability for more members of the Orangutech team to attend. The "Road to New Orleans" event originated through discussions amongst Orangutech members and eventual involvement from Microsoft and the International Association of Microsoft Certified Partners (IAMCP).
We felt that by driving a team down to the WPC, in order to minimize the environmental foot print, and promote what it means to be connected to Microsoft and other partners, we could at the same time generate some interest in Orangutech within the partner community and garner excitement about WPC, resulting in partners making the commitment to attend this year's event.
Acknowledging a drastic change in the world’s perception of carbon foot print and fossil fuel alternatives, Orangutech Inc. is travelling approximately 2,300KMs (1,300 miles) to the Microsoft World Partner Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana via a Ford Hybrid Escape with 5 passengers to demonstrate options surrounding modes of travel and to capture significant analytics surrounding the differences between travel of this method versus typical methods of travel such as by flight or by standard fossil fuel only vehicles.
Also, to promote significant partnerships throughout the North American plains, Orangutech Inc. will be documenting, blogging, recording, and capturing all aspects of the journey and sharing this out to the public while in transit.
Along the way the team will be meeting up with other Microsoft partners. All recordings and information captured will be available to the public via several means of access such as through this blog, Microsoft’s Digital WPC web site (www.digitalwpc.com), and other social communication tools such as Facebook and Twitter.
In the mean time, check out our new pre-event video.
So Stay tuned for more updates to come.
